Food Fiesta 2019

Food Fiesta 2019 was held at Bayfront, specifically, Event Plaza at Marina. Food there was of very low and disappointing standards. Let's go through some stalls that we have tried last weekend.

JP Kitchen

Takoyaki by JP Kitchen served with mayonnaise and bonito flakes

There were around 3 takoyaki stalls that we saw at the fair, the other two with rather long queues. This was probably a sign that they were popular. However, this stall's food was very underwhelming and there was not even a queue. The takoyaki was mushy inside, and the octopus was chewy as ever. The flour-to-filling ratio was 3:1.

Sofnade

Meatballs in a bucket by Sofnade served with twister fries and mashed potato, topped with a cheese sauce

What was supposed to taste great was one of the worst dishes we have had at the fair. Unlike Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2018, every component tasted artificial and awful. The meatballs looked like a coffee cream puff. The twister fries were as hard as bullets with no flavour. The worst component was the grainy mashed potato. We waited five minutes for the dish to be put together as they were not ready yet. Still, we received this dreadful $10 dish.

Just compare the difference between the one we had and the one from a different event

It was sadly lacklustre this round...

KECha

Taiwan Brown Sugar Milk Tea by KECha(700oz)

KECha has been proven a great franchise based on countless reviews by us. At the GSR Bazaar, the drinks were spectacular and refreshing which helped us cool down in this hot atmosphere. This Taiwan Brown Sugar Milk Tea was not as sweet, the pearls had a good bite. This was certainly a great drink for the night! Definitely worth buying.

Here's some of the other drinks we purchased previously(sorry for poor quality images)

Moving on...

Beef Bro

Flaming Beef Cubes by Beef Bro

This extremely disappointing dish costed us a whopping $12.90! This was not worth buying nor waiting. There was no consistency in the cooking(flat top grill and blowtorch). Some were cooked too well done, some were nice and chewy. A common personal opinion we shared was you don't put seaweed on anything and everything you serve. It can sometimes ruin and spoil the taste or its aesthetic beauty(or ugliness). How overrated...

Let's move on to the STAR of the show before the show even began...

The Cha Yen

Ondeh Ondeh Dutch Baby Pancakes topped with coconut and gula melaka

This delicious dessert was tasty. These baby pancakes had a very good bite and were bursting with flavour. For 10 of these pancakes, they costed us $6. Of course, there were other choices such as the chocolate and strawberry flavour, but this was way more appealing to us. Certainly a must-buy if you were to come across this stall.

And that's it!

Time to conclude..

From best to worst:

1. The Cha Yen's Ondeh Ondeh Dutch Baby Pancake

2. KECha's Taiwan Brown Sugar Milk Tea

3. Beef Bro's Flaming Beef Cubes

4. JP Kitchen's Takoyaki

5. Sofnade's Meatballs in a Bucket

That's it for Food Fiesta 2019! We hope the quality and standards of the food will improve to blow us away next year. There were many other food stalls that we didn't check out. Do give them a try and tell us what you think!
